Dr Mackey is a senior lecturer in the Discipline of Physiotherapy and a member of the Ageing, Work and Health Research Unit at the University of Sydney. He is Course Director of the undergraduate physiotherapy program, with special responsible for the occupational health curriculum. His doctoral research completed in 2005, evaluated ergonomic and exercise approaches for optimising performance of repetitive manual work. His current research interests are focussed on injury prevention, work ability and promotion of worker wellness in an ageing sedentary workforce. Dr Mackey has presented his research findings at numerous local and international scientific conferences. And he currently has over 25 peer reviewed publications and book chapters and has received over $A880,000 in research funding. He is a past chair of Occupational Health Physiotherapy Australia (NSW Chapter).
