Healthy Students - Healthy Professionals (An educator's focus on caring for students and their health) (366)
At work all health professionals engage in teaching, training and supervising others, including students. Some health professionals are more formally involved in this role as a day-to-day activity. Educating health professional students to ensure that they are equipped with the knowledge and clinical skills they need to deliver quality care to patients can be very rewarding. However, if the student has difficulties with their performance it can be a challenge to determine the best way to support the student. Health concerns are often woven into the mix of issues that arise. Assoc Prof Eleanor Milligan is an experienced clinician, ethicist and educator who is also a member of the Queensland Medical Interim Notifications Group. She will facilitate this workshop which offers educators a unique opportunity to discuss how best to care to the student, while still ensuring that health professionals graduate with the necessary skills and professionalism to deliver care to their patients.
